About

Liu Qiwei(Mervin) is an Chinese award-winning contemporary artist& designer recognized for his art jewellery and silversmithing sculptures based in Edinburgh. He is a member of Craft Scotland, the Association for Contemporary Jewellery (UK). And he is currently pursuing a PhD in Edinburgh College of Art.
As a jeweller and silversmith, his work is often inspired by the movements found in nature and incorporates a variety of materials, techniques, and structures. His dedication to pushing the boundaries of crafts and exploring the intersection of different cultures is reflected in his ability to create deeply meaningful pieces. His works have won multiple awards, and have been exhibited around world.
As an researcher, his interest include research-through-design, craft as a design methodology and design& craft under cultural context. He takes part in the Craft Hub EU project.
