It is super excited to show all the makers and researchers the process of my latest two projects at the EAD Conference 2023. It showcases our commitment to innovation and inclusiveness across our approaches, policies, techniques, frameworks, and principles. Its purpose is to highlight the ways in which agencies, communities, organizations, institutions, and societies have adjusted, cooperated, and developed.
This conference examines doctoral design research and education across five themes, each hosted by a different higher education institution:
The Discipline of Design – transdisciplinary practices (Bilbao, Spain). Monday 16th
Living in the Pluriverse (São Paulo, Brazil). Tuesday 17th
Beyond Human-Centred Design Research (Sonipat, India). Wednesday 18th
Exploring the Social Impact of Design Research (Espoo, Finland). Thursday 19th
Extreme Making (Glasgow, Scotland). Friday 20th
I am proud to be part of Extreme Making Exhibition. My exhibition propose a research-through-design approach, including two series of the process of making, to explore individuality and self-expression in Art Jewellery and related crafts within Western and Chinese cultural contexts. To accomplish my objectives, I have developed two comparative practice pieces, each themed "stacked rocks," approaching this theme from both Chinese and Western perspectives that I experienced. This exploration delves into the key elements of creation within distinct cultural contexts. One perspective focuses on a new aesthetic based on traditional crafts, while the other is inspired by my personal experiences and created using a non-traditional enamel technique.
Huge thanks to Pro.f Sarah Kettley, Stephen Bottomley Dr. Helen McComack for organizing it.
